The New York City Coalition for the Prevention and Eradication of Homelessness (NYC CCOC) is a broad-based coalition that seeks to provide a leadership role in tackling homelessness in the city. The coalition works to organize communities and stakeholders to advocate, recruit volunteers, and build strong coalitions for effective community outreach and education. The Thriving Communities Coalition (TCC) and the Prosperous Communities Coalition (PCC) are two of the most prominent coalitions in New York City. Both organizations are dedicated to improving the lives of those living in the city, with TCC focusing on land use planning and reform, while PCC is advocating for an anti-racist approach to expand access to the Uniform Land Use Review Procedure (ULURP). The Homeless Coalition has been working for more than 40 years to develop and implement humane and cost-effective strategies to end homelessness in New York City.
The New York Equity Coalition is a group of civil rights, education, parent, and business organizations committed to fighting for better outcomes and greater opportunities for all students in New York State. The Student Success Action Network (SSAN) requires local associations and coalitions to be established every quarter, with a year-end requirement of five local associations or coalitions. The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) presents an opportunity to improve New York's education system by addressing systemic inequities in access, opportunities, and achievement, particularly for students of color, low-income students, students with disabilities, and English language learners. The coalitions in New York City are working together to achieve their goals.
